Art on the Move

ART ON THE MOVE administers government funding annually which supports the development of, and the preparation costs associated with, touring exhibitions. Exhibitions are funded and/or endorsed by the Curatorial sub-committee for inclusion in the program once a year. Institutions, individual artists and curators or incorporated groups can apply for support from the following funds: State Exhibitions Development Fund, State Exhibitions Touring Funds and National Touring Extension Fund.

The Mission Statement ART ON THE MOVE The National Exhibitions Touring Structure for Western Australia Inc. facilitates the touring of exhibitions to meet the needs of audiences and exhibition venues beyond established state and federal institutions. It aims to develop and tour quality exhibitions, particularly of contemporary visual arts and craft, to people of Western Australia and to develop professional exhibition practices and venues.

Objectives ART ON THE MOVE aims:

  • To develop and tour visual art and craft exhibitions of quality and diversity with an emphasis on contemporary practice throughout Western Australia.
  • To maximise the audience and its access to the Exhibitions Program.
  • To provide enjoyment and improve the experience of viewing visual art and craft for the Exhibitions Program audience.
  • To raise the level of professional practice and skills related to curating and hosting touring exhibitions.
  • To foster the exchange and touring of exhibitions beyond state boundaries.

The Exhibition Funds ART ON THE MOVE, The National Exhibitions Touring Structure for Western Australia Inc. invites Applications for State Exhibition Touring Fund, National Touring Extension Fund, or Partnership.

Proposals are encouraged from organisations, education institutions with collections, galleries, independent curators, art and craft groups or other legally constituted bodies that seek endorsement and/or funding for exhibitions which are designed specifically for touring within the ART ON THE MOVE Program.

Eligibility Applications will be considered from:

  • Regional and metropolitan public and private art galleries, Crafts Councils, Contemporary Art Spaces, Aboriginal Corporations and other legally constituted professional arts and artists organisations.
  • Public and private collections.
  • Educational Institutions.
  • Applications with ART ON THE MOVE nominated as tour manager.
  • Independent curators with Institutional support.
  • Independent curators with ART ON THE MOVE as Organising Institution at its discretion.
  • Trainee curator/coordinator with senior supervision. Group artists’ initiatives.
  • Individual artists with a curator or gallery as Applicant.

Application Assistance The application form is to be typed or clearly printed with all relevant sections to be completed. Additional information may be attached on separate A4 sheets clearly identified (up to 4 x A4 sheets). Good quality reproductions preferably digital images, photographs or maquettes will assist the proposal.

ART ON THE MOVE can provide advice on all aspects of the Application. Allow sufficient time to clarify queries, obtain actual budget quotes and seek written expressions of venue interest.

Application and copies must be received at the address below by 5.00pm on the closing date.

Late Applications will not be considered.
Faxed Applications will not be considered.
